Seller's Description
This is the very first vehicle a young “Bathurst rookie” Peter Brock drove around Mt Panorama for the first time which he placed 3rd, commissioned by HDT they built 3 HT Monaro’s to compete in the 1969 Hardie-Ferodo 500, 1 of which went on to win the race.
The term “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday” was so true to vehicles of this era as the race teams were only aloud to make minor modifications to the vehicle due to racing regulations at the time, this meant they had to be registered for road use and have full trim.
After the Bathurst race the car was then on-sold by Harry Firth of HDT to the Morris Family who continued to race it, behind the wheel was Bob Morris who mentioned “it was a very competitive car, it even held a few records at the time”. For the past 50 years it has changed ownership 5 times which is documented in the CAMS log book being sold with the vehicle.
In the mid 2000’s the vehicle had undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration and unveiled at 2007 Australian Muscle Car Masters and driven by Bob Morris on the day, after that the vehicle has been on display at the Peter Brock experience on the Gold Coast.
